A fun-filled World Book Day

Hallam Fields Primary was buzzing for World Book Day, with staff and pupils participating in a variety of book-themed fun! From creative challenges to cosy reading moments, it was a fantastic day of sharing stories and celebrating our love for books.

One highlight was the Read Your Way Challenge. Pupils took unique photos of themselves reading in imaginative ways and wrote short reviews of their chosen books. The entries were so outstanding that we had six winners, each receiving a £5 Waterstones voucher.

The joy of reading continued as children came to school in cosy pyjamas, clutching their favourite bedtime books. They shared these treasured reads with classmates, sparking heartwarming conversations about what makes a book special before bed.

Another favourite activity was the Book Swap. Children brought up to three books from home and received tokens to exchange at our Book Swap stall. It was wonderful to see them discovering new stories while giving their old books a second life.

Adding a creative twist, pupils participated in the Favourite Character Wooden Spoon activity. They transformed wooden spoons into their favourite book characters, creating fun puppets to bring their beloved stories to life.

What a day it’s been! From engaging reading challenges to hands-on creativity, World Book Day at Hallam Fields Primary was a true celebration of books and imagination. A huge well done to everyone who took part—we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
