D&T Exhibition showcase success
We held an impressive Design and Technology exhibition in March where children from all year groups showcased their creative talents. The event was a huge success as children pitched their projects to their parents and guardians in what was named as the “Hallam’s Hut”.
Early Years Foundation Stage pupils proudly presented their farmyard creations, while bear class researched different types of fruits and vegetables and learned about the differences between them. They then designed and made their own fruit salads, inspired by the story "Little Chef" by Matt Stine and Elisabeth Weinberg. Meanwhile, hedgehog class researched various materials and techniques to create their own hand puppets.
KS2 students had their own unique projects as well. Foxes class delved into textiles and developed their sewing skills, collaborating to create a beautiful patchwork quilt. The Badgers class, on the other hand, were in a spin after designing and creating their own carousel fairground rides operated using a pulley mechanism. Lastly, Squirrels class researched, designed and created moon buggies, using their woodwork knowledge and skills and powering their vehicles with their own motorised pulley designs.
The exhibition was enjoyed by everyone who attended, with parents and guardians impressed by the children's hard work and creativity. We are looking forward to holding a whole-school Art exhibition towards the end of the summer term, which is sure to be as exciting and impressive as the D&T exhibition.
We are committed to nurturing its students’ creative talents and encouraging their love for learning. Hallam Fields continues to provide opportunities for children to showcase their skills and knowledge, and the Design and Technology exhibition is just one example of the school's commitment to excellence in education.
