Year 1 Pupils Experience Jewish Culture on Trip to the Synagogue in Leicester!
Our Year 1 pupils had a fascinating learning experience as they went on a trip to the Synagogue in Leicester last week. The children, who have been studying the Jewish religion in RE, spent time exploring the Synagogue and Heritage Centre, where they learned about Jewish traditions and practices.
Our pupils were excited to see the beautiful decorations and features of the Synagogue, including the Torah Scrolls, which are an essential part of Jewish worship. They learned that the Torah is the most sacred object in Judaism and how it is read and revered by the Jewish community.
During their visit, the children also learned about Jewish celebrations, including Shabuot, Sukkot, and Hanukah. They discovered the importance of these festivals and the customs associated with them, such as lighting the menorah during Hanukah and building Sukkot shelters to commemorate the Israelites' wandering in the wilderness.
The Heritage Centre proved to be a valuable resource, as the children were able to learn more about Jewish life and culture in Leicester. The trip helped to broaden their knowledge and understanding of different cultures, religions, and traditions.
